"If there are to be problems, may they come during my life-time so that I can resolve them and give my children the chance of a good life."

Kenyan proverb

"You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete."

Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."

Getting there

The 2nd Asia Pacific SDEWES conference will be held in the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, and the venue is the Griffith University GC campus. Gold Coast is located approximately 80 km and 1-hour drive south of Queensland's capital city, Brisbane, situated on the east coast of Australia, right on the border between Queensland and New South Wales.

By plane:

There are two airports that you can use for getting to the venue. The closest one is just 25 km south of Griffith GC campus, Gold Coast Airport (https://www.goldcoastairport.com.au/) which offers domestic and direct international services to/from New Zealand, Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul, Malaysia and Japan. Transfer options from the Gold Coast Airport are the Airport Shuttle Skybus or via public transportation on the TransLink’s integrated network.

For a large range of international flights (domestic as well), you should travel to Brisbane Airport (https://www.bne.com.au/) which is one hour north of the Griffith GC campus. There are several transfer options from Brisbane Airport to Gold Coast, you can consider the Airtrain option (two-hour train ride with change at Helensvale station), or the Con-x-ion shuttle bus.

A taxi from Brisbane to the Gold Coast is outside the metered zones, you would need to ask the driver for a quote. An estimate would be between $170 and $300.

To help you with the flight search you can use sites like:

By train

The only train that runs directly to the Gold Coast is from Brisbane. For example, if you are coming from Melbourne you can get on a train to Sydney, then on another train from Sydney to Casino, then a bus from Casino to Surfers Paradise – Gold Coast.

By bus

There are many long-distance bus services which come to the Gold Coast from Cairns, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane including MurraysPremier and Greyhound.
