Social programme

We take great pride in the scientific excellence of our invited lecturers, side events and authors of papers included in sessions at the SDEWES Conference, but there is another program that truly makes this Conference complete, and this is our Social programme.

From 2 - 5 April 2024, you will have a unique opportunity to enjoy the company of top experts in the field of sustainable development from all around the world and, through our social programme, exchange ideas in a more informal way, while enjoying the beautiful views of Gold Coast.

 

 

Welcome reception

2 April 2024 (Tuesday)

Meet us between 17.00 and 17.30h in front of the downstairs main entrance of the Skypoint to experience 360° views of the Gold Coast atop Australia's tallest building. SkyPoint offers panoramic views of the Gold Coast located at the iconic Q1 building in Surfers Paradise.

Join us for a welcome drink when we will formally start the Conference. 

 

Getting there:

SkyPoint is situated on level 77 of the iconic Q1 Building, Corner of Clifford St & Surfers Paradise Blvd, Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast. It is just a short 6-minute walk from central Surfers Paradise and FREE undercover parking is available for visitors via Hamilton Avenue (disability-accessible parking is available). Public parking is available nearby at Centro Surfers Paradise in Hanlan St or Bruce Bishop car park on Beach Rd.

By Car: Visitor Parking is available underneath the Q1 building via Hamilton Ave.

On Foot: SkyPoint is a 6-minute walk from central Surfers Paradise.

By G:Link: The G:Link station is located directly in front of the SkyPoint Lobby.

Conference tour and dinner

4 April 2024 (Thursday), 14:30 – 22:30 h

Prepare for having wonderful memories from the AP SDEWES 2024 social event as we have a very special afternoon planned for our conference participants.

Join us for the wonderful exploration of Gold Coast, as per the following itinerary:

Starting time and point: 14.00h in front of the conference venue, Griffith UniversityG30. Arts & Education Building 1

14:15  Departing by bus

14:45 Arrival to the Spit

15:00 Starting a walking tour of a popular beach to get to know how the coastal strip of the Gold Coast city evolved over time, from artificial reefs to wave break island

17.30: Bus transfer to the restaurant where we will have the conference dinner

17.45: Arrival to conference dinner venue, Southport Yacht Club restaurant 

18:00 - 22:00 - Dinner at Southport Yacht Club restaurant

Please note: After dinner there will be no organized transfer back to the Griffith University.

Local organizing committee holds rights to change or completely cancel the proposed Social Programme due to bad weather, Covid or any other Force Majeure act.
